Game company Electronic Arts has proudly shared that the Star Wars IP has given them a lot of profits for many years already.
EA reported that the Star Wars IP has generated $3 billion life-to-date net bookings and 50 million games sold. These franchises include Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Galaxy of Heroes, Battlefront, Jedi: Fallen Order, and Star Wars Squadrons.
Even the free-to-play mobile title Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is a $1 billion franchise. That is a lot of profits.
EA revealed that they are willing to invest more on the IP since it generates a lot for them. There will be more games to expect in the future across multiple platforms.
“And as I said before, we’ve had a long partnership with Disney, both before our exclusive period that gave us a great opportunity to really establish some very strong franchises like Battlefront, like Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, like Jedi: Fallen Order, like Squadrons,” said Wilson.
“You should expect us to continue to invest in our Star Wars relationship. We’re excited by what we’ll be able to do in the future. But you shouldn’t read this as necessarily us building fewer titles.”
