Super Robot Wars Y is one of the biggest SRW games to be released this year. Recently, a livestream broadcast was held on the Bandai Namco YouTube Channel and revealing more info about the game, and what other details and features were added to it.

What does Y mean in Super Robot Wars Y

According to the developers, the idea behind the Y was chosen as a representation of an image of a fork in the road or an intersection coming from three directions, which seemed to fit the story of this work. After the title was decided, the elements of “Y” were imported back into the story and setting. The previous SRW game, Super Robot Wars 30, focused on a military world, but now, Super Robot Wars Y will focus on a world after the war has been overcome, and that setting will be important.

Super Robot Wars Y New Gameplay Details

Mobile Fortress City Airdent is a battleship that will lead players into the battlefield. At a crucial part of the story, the characters will be forced to make a choice, as the catchphrase states, but the producer said that the atmosphere will not be depressing, but it will be quite exciting. This game also uses the “Tactical Area Select” system, and various improvements have been made to make it easier to play by reflecting feedback from players. In addition, a story page will be released on the official website after the release.

Another feature that has been added to the game is called Assist Link. As you fight, the assist gauge fills up, and by consuming this gauge, you can use assist commands. Using the assist commands that each character has, you can give the characters various strengthening effects. The example is from Macross Delta, Freya. Freya has an assist cost of “2” and Lopet has a cost of “4”, but they can add powerful command effects. Furthermore, the effect increases as you increase the rank. At rank 2 Cooking, the passive effect is to add +3 to the main pilot’s ability scores and skills. The rank can be increased up to 4.

Furthermore, some characters have synergy effects that give you an advantage in battle. However, because the ability to freely organize your team is one of the game’s attractions, the synergy effects are not set to be that powerful.

Super Robot Wars Y Demo Announced

It has been decided that a pre-release trial session for this game will be held. A pre-release trial session where you can play the demo version will be held on June 21st and 22nd. It is expected to last about an hour, and there will also be a talk corner with the development team.

Super Robot War Y will officially be released on August 28, 2025, for the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Pre-Order The game and get amazing bonuses including new DLC units that appeared in the previous SRW series.
