The 8th mainline entry in the storied Tekken franchise is about to release and it’s already looking like a serious contender for fighting game of the year. Tekken 8 started its campaign strong with an impressive launch. Our review of the game has nothing but praise for its story and mechanics. Will Tekken be able to maintain its momentum and take it all? That will be largely determined by the quality of its DLC fighter packs launched throughout the year.

The platinum trophy run for Tekken 8 looks to be a doable one. It’s definitely far easier than the grindfest that was Mortal Kombat 1. In many regards, it continued Tekken 7’s straightforward list of participation requirements over feats of mastery.

There don’t seem to be any difficulty-related trophies for any of the modes. Not even in story mode. There is, however, a series of trophies tied to what rank you achieve in the game. Naturally, the higher your rank is, the tougher the matches will be. Thankfully, the trophies stop at Vanquisher. Close enough to the top without asking the player to go all out.

You will unlock the There’s No Way You Can Stop Me Silver trophy after getting promoted to Vanquisher rank. Known as the 16th Dan, the Vanquisher rank is pretty high in the hierarchy. The fastest way to get to the rank is to challenge, and win, against opponents who have a higher rank than the one you are currently holding. This can be done in both offline and online play. I’m not quite sure which mode gives rank rewards more. But if you keep playing long enough, you will eventually hit the rank of Vanquisher.

Most of the trophies you will unlock naturally as you play the game. The ones that are acquired from matches such as the stage destruction ones and rage mode activations you can easily do with enough matches under your belt. You don’t even have to focus too much on them as opportunities for both are frequent in most matches.

As with most fighting games, Tekken 8’s online modes give players a chance to test their reflexes and battle knowledge against players of similar skill. Trophies such as I’ll Give You a Rematch Anytime, Guv, Excellent!, and Just Relax. You Can Do It are acquired from Ranked and online play in general.

All the game modes are part of the launch:

  • Arcade Quest
  • The Dark Awakens (Story mode)
  • Online Mode
  • Ghost Battles
  • Character Episodes
  • Tekken Ball
  • Practice Mode
  • Replay Mode
  • Character Customization

Arcade Quest is pretty much the Armode Mode from previous entries. Players go into a series of matches with a mostly random lineup of opponents. There are a couple of fixed battles that are crucial to the character’s side story. Winning all the battles will unlock the Get Ready for the Next Battle! Gold trophy.

The Dark Awakens is Tekken 8’s story mode. It follows the story from Jin’s perspective with a couple of jumps here and there to other fighters. Later chapters shift focus to either Jin Kazama or Kazuya Mishima. The Hope and Despair Gold trophies are rewarded to players who finish Chapter 15 as either protagonist.

Tekken Ball was a fan-favorite mode last seen way back in Tekken 3. To get the My Moves are Way Faster Than Yours Bronze trophy, you’ll need to perform 20 Devilish hits inside the mode. Each hit on the ball builds momentum. With enough returns, the ball will start dishing out some serious damage.

Character episodes are side stories that explore a different side of our beloved fighters’ lives outside of the arena. There are 32 character episodes in total but you only need to finish 10 of them to unlock the Power Isn’t Everything Silver trophy.

The last things to take about are Practice Mode and Character Customization. You get a handful of trophies for following directions in Practice Mode as well as having the tips screen active during your session. You get the You’re in For It Now! Bronze trophy for saving a custom character. (They are a much more serious about theirs compared to Street Fighter 6.)

And that’s everything I’ve got for this Tekken 8 trophy guide. At the end of the day, this is one of the easier Tekken trophies to get for a main line game. Don’t worry if you can’t speed run this right away. Just keep playing the game and every game mode and you’ll get the Platinum after matches, win or lose. That’s what it’s all about, right? Climbing the ranks and becoming a better fighter. The colorful cast of characters also helps.
