The Super Mario Bros. Movie Peaches Song Eligible for Oscars

A song for Bowser's unrequited love for Princess Peach is getting noticed!

A new report confirms that The Super Mario Bros. Movie song “Peaches” is eligible for the Oscars.

According to Variety, Universal has confirmed to them that the ultimate power ballad “Peaches” sung by Jack Black as Bowser will be eligible to submit for best original song consideration at the Oscars.

Bowser sang this song for his unrequited love for Princess Peach, voiced by Anya Taylor Joy, the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. “Peaches” is co-written by Black, the film’s directors Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, Eric Osmond, and John Spiker.

For fans who have not seen the movie, SPOILER WARNING HERE. It is revealed that in the movie, Bowser is sitting at his piano and singing this song, professing his love for the princess. The chorus itself is sung in various keys, which is quite cool and a common style for Jack Black.

There is also a separate music video uploaded on YouTube which has already garnered over 5 million views. It is now no. 2 on the trending page for music.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is out now in theatres.
