UK regulator the Competition and Markets Authority reportedly due to rule on the Microsoft Activision Blizzard deal soon.
According to The Verge, its sources confirm that the UK CMA is expected to make a preliminary decision next week, which is just before the end of the month. This will finally reveal the fate of the Microsoft Activision Blizzard acquisition since the UK CMA is the last one to block this deal from going through.
After this ruling, the final decision will be issued next month, October 18, 2023.
The UK CMA first blocked the deal a few months ago, April 2023, due to concerns about its impact on the cloud gaming market. After various countries approved the deal, it was just the US and UK that blocked the deal. That crumbled after the US “submitted” to Microsoft and now it’s the UK’s turn.
It is only a matter of time before the UK CMA will also approve this deal.
