Issue with Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla PS4 Upgrades to PS5 Investigated by Ubisoft

Several PlayStation 5 owners have recently complained that their PS4 versions of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion does not have the option for free upgrade.

Some players who own the PS4 version of the two games and have the PS5 console recently complained that the option for the free upgrade for next-gen did not appear. Media outlet Eurogamer reached out to game company Ubisoft, which in turn stated that they already know about the situation and are currently investigating it.

According to Eurogamer, the source of the problem could be the European store listing. There could be a bug in the system and the store is not showing it right.

The PS4 versions of the game on the PS5 can still be played, but the upgraded version is where it is at. Players can enjoy improved audio and visuals, raytracing, adaptive trigger support, and faster load times.

Ubisoft already shared a set of instructions to the media outlet that could probably fix the problem:

  • Insert the eligible PS4 game disc.
  • Go to the game hub for the PS4 game. Users must select “VIEW PRODUCT”
  • Select the upgrade offer on the game hub and review the upgrade offer.
  • Select Download (or purchase with the discount price) to download/purchase content.
  • After the download is complete, you can play the PS5 digital game by inserting the PS4 game disc. You will need to keep the disc inserted each time to play the game.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion are both available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
