Where to Find and Defeat Devastators in Helldivers 2

Devastators are one of the Automaton type enemies that you will eventually need to hunt down in Helldivers 2. Players seeking to complete Personal Orders or engage in challenging battles will find these enemies across various locations and missions. Recognizable by their potential equipment variations such as guns, shields, or shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, Devastators offer a dynamic combat experience.

Where to Find Devastators in Helldivers 2?

Devastators can be found in the Automaton sectors, specifically on the western side of the galaxy map, characterized by red zones. Malevelon Creek is a notably famous location for encountering Devastators.

There are also specific mission types that provide varied opportunities to battle against Devastators, each offering a different level of challenge and strategy requirement:

    • Planet Defense Missions: “Eradicate Automaton Forces” missions are highly recommended for encountering Devastators.
    • Retrieve Essential Personnel: Although Devastators appear in these missions, they present a higher level of difficulty.
    • Bot Drop Events: Devastators can also spawn during these events, adding an unpredictable challenge.

Additionally, keep an eye out for missions with a unique white symbol above them on the main map, indicating quests specifically targeting Devastators.

What do Devastators look like in Helldivers 2?

Devastators are armored automatons (see the image above for reference) with glowing red skulls similar to berserkers. Devastators come in several variants, including the standard armed with automatic rifles, the heavy with an added shield, and the Rocket Devastators equipped with shoulder-mounted rocket launchers. They stand out on the battlefield with their bulky build, except for their faces, which are their visual weak points.

How to Kill Devastators in Helldivers 2?

To easily kill Devastators in Helldivers 2, focus on these key strategies:

    1. Target Weak Points: Aim for their small heads or waist for quick dismantling. These areas are less armored and more vulnerable to damage.
    2. Use the Right Weapons:
      • Precision Weapons: Marksman Rifles and Assault Rifles for headshots.
      • Explosives: Grenades, Grenade Launchers, and weapons with explosive rounds to bypass armor.
      • Armor-Piercing: Railgun, Autocannon, and Anti-Material Rifle for penetrating tough armor.
    3. Deploy Stratagems and Sentries:
      • Offensive Stratagems: Utilize airstrikes and bombs for high damage.
      • Defensive Support: Use the Guard Dog ‘Rover’ and various sentries (Gatling, Machine Gun, Mortar) for additional firepower and protection, especially effective in solo play.
    4. Beware of Rocket Devastators: Prioritize destroying their rocket launchers to neutralize their most dangerous attack.
