Xbox Series X Will Be Able to Play ‘Thousands of Games’ on Day One

The Xbox Series X was recently announced by Microsoft and highly praised as its most powerful console system to date. It has many highly-defined features that could definitely prove its processing power. The gaming company, however, has lauded this feature the most: Backwards Compatibility. Today, they have promised that when this powerful console launches, it will be able to play “thousands of games” on day one.

Xbox Series X Director of Program Management Jason Ronald wrote on Xbox Wire that they have alrady one 100,000 hours of play testing with the console system and proudly stated that “thousands of games are already playable on Xbox Series X today.” The games include the most popular ones to the cult classic and fan favorites. He even said that Team Xbox is using the console system as its main console and switching between generations of games does not have any issues at all.

By the time we launch this holiday, the team will have spent well over 200,000 hours ensuring your game library is ready for you to jump in immediately.

Aside from backwards compatibility, Ronald shared that these games will play better than ever before. The backwards compatible games will run natively on the new hardware, which meant they will be running with the full power of the CPU, GPU, and SSD combined. He proudly said that there will be no boost mode and no downclocking at all. All of these games will play at peak performance and will running way better than it was before in its original launch platform.

The games on this new console will have steadier framerates and will render at their maximum resolution and visual quality. With the new NVME SSD technology, there will be reduction in in-game load times.

Aside from those improvements, the Xbox Series X will add innovative HDR reconstruction technique, which will automatically add HDR support to games. This was possible together with the Xbox Advanced Technology Group. The addition of HDR technology will have no impact to the game’s performance at all and can be applied to Xbox 360 and original Xbox games as well.

Lastly, a Quick Resume feature was added. It can work with all games including the backward compatible games. Players can easily go back to the game where they left off without cancelling the game altogether.
