Planet Coaster Alpha Launches Today for PC

Frontier Developments plc, today, launched the Planet Coaster Early-Bird Alpha for PC. Planet Coaster is the next great leap for coaster park simulation, building on a decade of experience from the studio behind the genre’s benchmark.

Planet Coaster‘s Early-Bird Alpha places the game’s first creative tools in the hands of the community. Players can build rides, lay paths, place scenery and explore the revolutionary modular construction system to create truly unique parks for their guests to explore.

Future phases of the Alpha will add further features on the road to the Planet Coaster‘s launch in Q4 2016, when Planet Coaster will deliver the best creation tools, the deepest coaster park simulation, the most expressive and believable crowds, and the most comprehensive sharing and community features, all in the world’s most authentic coaster park game. In this game, the developers created a living world where every guest is an individual with their own personality and money in their pocket, giving players limitless freedom to build rides and scenery piece by piece with their very own hand-sculpted terrain. The game will also feature an online global community where everyone can share in their creativity.

For the alpha testing stage, the coaster editor would not be in the alpha, because the UI isn’t finished. According to Frontier Developments’ Jonny Watts, he’d prefer feedback on things that he knew weren’t totally broken. But people at home will still be able to at least try to build some roller coasters, thanks to community feedback. All you have to do is enter an old school cheat code:

To access coaster building, open a map and select the “Rides,” “Scenery,” or “Buildings” tab, then select the “Search” option (a magnifying glass) and enter the code “underconstruction” (all one word) to enable the coaster construction tab.

Join the ride as Planet Coaster’s Early Bird Alpha is available to play now at FrontierStore.net for $74.99 and see the new Planet Coaster Early-Bird Alpha tutorial video here. The alpha of Planet Coaster is exclusively available to those who pre-ordered the “Early Bird Edition” of the game direct from Frontier. There is no word yet of a wider alpha or beta test.

Planet Coaster will launch in Q4 2016, and is available for pre-order today at the discounted price of $29.99.
