Payday 2 On Nintendo Switch Isn’t Updated To The Latest Version

In just a day away from its EU launch and few more days for its NA release for Nintendo Switch, Overkill Software’s popular first-person co-op heist title, Payday 2, is apparently running on an outdated build of the game.

There are people who got handed with early copies of Payday 2, and it looks like they were able to spot things that might be too disappointing for most of us waiting for the game to come out on Nintendo Switch. According to post over at Reddit, sadlyuseless constantly updated the thread that eventually led to the conclusion that Payday 2 on Nintendo Switch was running on an old build – version 117.

I want to personally thank /u/Salem33 for doing some research of their own and finding an official statement from Starbreeze claiming the Switch version is running the “Most Wanted” update, which is update 117 on PCs. The Switch version is in fact running on version 117, not 130. We are nearly two years and 55 updates behind. The strangest thing is, update 117 is Day 9 of the Hoxton’s Housewarming Party event. A free heist, Panic Room, was released on Day 10. It seems so strange to me to not give us all of the event’s content.

The John Wick Heists were released February 9th, 2017. The Switch version, on release, is already over a year outdated. No Crime Spree. No AI Henchmen. No Desync Update. 5 characters, 4 perk decks, 21 guns, 8 melee weapons, 3 grenades, 11 heists, at LEAST 50 masks, countless bug fixes and optimizations (when I say countless, I mean it. Easily over 200) just… missing.[/alert]

Starbreeze confirmed to Polygon that the Nintendo Switch version is running on the Most Wanted patch that was released last year in June. However, the PS4 and Xbox One is updated to the Master Plan version, which is behind the PC version but still ahead of the Nintendo Switch port.

    [alert type=white]

Payday 2 is releasing on Switch with content up to and including the ‘Most Wanted’ update, which is equivalent to the content released through mid-2017 on PC. PS4 and Xbox One received one additional update after that, the ‘Master Plan’ update, which released near the end of 2017. So Switch is one update behind other consoles, which are slightly behind PC.[/alert]
