Taking place 200 years before the Phantom Menace, we get a small glimpse of the upcoming game-in-development for Star Wars–the newest title revealed to be joining the franchise is Star Wars: The High Republic. Check out the announcement trailer below.
According to the developers, The High Republic will feature the Galactic Republic at its “height” when the Jedi will assume their roles as peacekeepers. Not much is revealed about the game from the trailer, except a couple of concept art being shown and the developers talking about their ideas for the game.
As for now, information on the game is minimal. Though more information and lore background may be available to us this August when books and comics about The High Republic will be made available for the public.
It will be interesting to see what kind of tale the developers have in mind to share with us. As the Jedi and Sith have not dueled in more than a thousand years from the Phantom Menace. The High Republic is only set two hundred years before. It may be possible that the plot this time around will not involve dealings with the Dark Side of the Force.
