Developer Kraken Express (formerly Windrose Crew) has officially launched Windrose into Early Access, now available on PC.
The open-world pirate survival adventure invites players to explore the high seas as a customizable captain, either solo or in co-op groups of up to eight players. Set in a large, procedurally generated world, Windrose combines exploration, survival mechanics, and combat across both land and sea.
At launch, the game offers three distinct biomes, a wide range of quests, and numerous handcrafted points of interest. Players can engage in Souls-lite combat, using a mix of melee weapons and firearms while taking on enemies and large-scale boss encounters. Naval gameplay is also central to the experience, featuring ship combat, boarding mechanics, and customizable vessels.

Windrose builds on feedback from its Steam Next Fest demo, which saw nearly 900,000 players try the game ahead of release. The Early Access version includes dozens of hours of content, along with requested features such as co-op ship controls, allowing players to work together to operate and fight with shared ship weaponry.
Beyond combat, the game emphasizes survival systems, including resource gathering, crafting, base building, and settlement management. Players can recruit NPCs, develop their outposts, and improve efficiency while exploring the world’s expanding regions.
The story follows a rising pirate captain seeking revenge while navigating conflicts between rival factions, empires, and legendary figures, including Blackbeard.
Windrose is priced at $29.99, with a Supporter Bundle available for $39.99, which includes additional content such as a soundtrack and digital extras. A limited-time 10% launch discount is also available during the first week.
Windrose is available now in PC Early Access.
