According to Sony Interactive Entertainment, it has clarified that upcoming video game Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is not what it seems to be.
The Miles Morales game, according to Sony’s EVP head of European Business Simon Rutter, is actually an expansion of the original PlayStation 4 game, and sort of a remaster that will upgrade the original one.
Rutter did state that the upcoming remaster and expansion has a lot of content to try out. The remastered version will have an improved game engine due to the PlayStation 5 technology and features. The decision behind making this an expansion is to show the fans of the original game see how it was improved with the PS5 hardware.
The statement makes sense since it was not that long ago that the original Spider-Man game came out, so for a new one to come out already would be quite impressive in a development standpoint. For it to be an expansion and some sort of a remaster, now that would make sense.
The game remaster and expansion will be coming holiday 2020.
Update: Insomniac Games has officially clarified the confusion. It is a standalone game and not just an expansion.
