A new report claims that The Last of Us Part 2 will not be getting a DLC since it got shelved.
According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier while talking on the MinnMax Show, there was a point in time that game company Naughty Dog was having the idea of making DLCs for TLOU2, but was cancelled somehow. It seems they have moved on to other projects like the multiplayer mode and the rumored TLOU PS5 remake.
“I believe at one point [Naughty Dog] was thinking about DLC, but I don’t think that happened,” Schreier stated. He did not clarify at what part of the production this is, but he is sure that it has been set aside for now. He does say the studio might do something in the future, but that could be years later.
Naughty Dog Co-President Neil Druckmann was adamant last year that they had no plans in making a DLC for TLOU2. This is quite suspect though since the original game had a prequel DLC of sorts, which was the Left Behind story. It would be a shame not to expand more on certain major characters’ stories.
What do you think? Is this a closed case scenario or is there a chance Naughty Dog would be open for another DLC story?
Speaking of the TLOU Remake rumor, one of our resident writers believes a remake is not needed anymore. “Graphically and mechanically speaking, the game has aged rather well,” he says. “It even looks better than many games released in 2020. So what can a remake really offer us?” What can it offer to us indeed.
The Last of Us Part 2 is now available on PlayStation 4 and playable on PS5.
