Returnal Still Not Getting Mid-Run Saves Because Devs Have Not Found Solution Yet

Game developer Housemarque has recently spoken to media outlet Axios Gaming about not yet implementing saves in video game Returnal.

Marketing Director Mikael Haveri shared the reason why Housemarque has not made it possible for players to save mid-run in the game. He says that it is really not a simple solution to do.

“We understand that there are some systems in place that are currently a hindering factor,” Haveri explained.

“Currently, we just don’t know exactly what it is,” he explained. “So it’s very difficult to announce anything, because I think there’s a lot of different people looking for different things.”

The developers have NOT figured out yet how to implemented mid-run saves for the game because there is a “hindering factor.” What that factor is, they did not go into detail. Development is not as easy as it sounds and there could be some issues that will appear once they add the code for mid-run saves. It simply would ruin the game completely if not done properly.

That does not mean mid-run saves are not important because they are. There are players that could not commit a long time of no interruptions from the real world, which is why mid-run saves or checkpoints would do wonders with this. Hopefully, Housemarque will be able to figure out a way to make this possible.

Returnal is now available exclusively on PlayStation 5.
