Motor Bike Racing is one of the oldest genres in the video gaming industry. Since 1983, there have been numerous iterations of Motorbike racing games such as Road Rash, Excite Bike, Zippy Race and, many more. But none can top the newest motor racing game, RiMS Racing, developed by RaceWard Studio. This game is an all-new racing game and as quoted by RaceWard Studio,

“This game is a completely new approach to the motorcycle simulation game experience. In our game, you can use the top-of-the-line bikes from the biggest manufacturers in your quest to harness their power. Our game provides an extremely accurate riding experience and precise control of the bike.”

In Rims Racing, skills in racing are not the only thing players need to survive to become the best biker. Customizing and maintaining one’s motorbike is important as players will get a chance to see up-close how to properly customize, change, and repair both the interior and exterior parts of a motorbike. I personally love this type of idea since I am a newbie when it comes to customizing bikes. There are a lot of options to choose from when it comes to customizing your bike but before all that, the game will allow you, the player, to choose which bike to start with.

The bikes that are included in the game are 8 of the fastest bikes developed and produced by top racing bike companies like Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, and Ducati. The 8 bikes that are playable are the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10 RR, Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, BMW M 1000 RR, Ducati Panigale V4 R, Honda CBR1000RR ABS, MV Agusta F4 RC, Suzuki GSX-R1000R, and the Yamaha YZF-R1. The motorbikes have been reproduced with peerless detail and realism, and you will have to maintain and upgrade them through the innovative gameplay, which blends mechanical precision with the sheer thrill of driving. Seeing all these bikes in action makes me feel like I too should get my own motorbike and try it out for real.

The race tracks are very challenging and unique in this racing game. There are some of the biggest names in road racing, and players will enjoy not only in terms of racing – the Great Victoria Desert, Passo San Marco, and the Atlantic Ocean Road are just three of the five that are fully playable in RiMS Racing. These tracks are not only extravagant but also tricky as well. There are times when the roads would lean to certain areas which would be confusing to turn into or require racers to do sharp turns. Truth be told, I had a hard time doing these tracks and finishing them. Most of the time, whenever I do a sharp turn, I end up getting myself in accidental throws, leading me to either a getting time penalty or my motorbike getting damaged.

The Career mode of the game is actually very educational for me, personally. I got tons of learning experience – from learning how to drive the motorbikes, all the way to customizing and maintaining bike parts. Whenever I do missions and clear bonus requirements in this game, I gain credits that I then use to unlock new research materials to either improve my bike’s performance or invent new motorbike parts that help me greatly in future events.

The multiplayer of the game can either be done locally through split-screen or done online. Not only that, there are online challenges in the game that can be done but some of which are very difficult to do since I am a rookie at this game. A great number of players can join in the online multiplayer mode of this game and share the specs of their bikes with other players in order to give others ideas to improve themselves greatly. However, the only downside that I noticed in the game is that RiMS Racing doesn’t have cross-play enabled with other platforms and I suspect it will limit enthusiasm for the game itself.

Overall, the game is great and has a lot of potential as a motorbike racing simulator for many riding fans. Not only that, the racing mechanics of the game is well balanced and suited for not only experienced players but also for newbies who will just start playing these types of games. I recommend players to try the demo version of the game in order to have some experience first on what awaits them in playing RIMS racing.
