A new rumor claims that the supposedly new Metal Gear Solid Collection will be announced in the upcoming PlayStation’s State of Play showcase this coming Thursday.
On February 23, 2023, the first State of Play for the year 2023 will be broadcasted live on streaming platforms. It is expected to officially introduce the PSVR2 launch and its new lineup of games, a new glimpse of the upcoming Suicide Squad game, and a portion that will showcase titles from third-party partners and indies. In the latter part, a new rumor has emerged in regard to a classic franchise’s new collection.
The rumor comes from a response to a question when VGC’s Andy Robinson was asked about the “new” collection on its release. He answered by asking them to tune in to his upcoming podcast this Thursday, which is also the date when the State of Play goes live. Metal Gear Solid Collection might get announced on that day.
If the hint comes from Robinson, who owns VGC, then there is some credence to this rumor. While he does not outright claim that the collection is true, the way he responded to the inquiry made it seem like he has some knowledge about it.
This is also not the first time that rumors of a new Metal Gear Solid Collection have been spotted online. Earlier this year, a rumor claimed that the classic Metal Gear Solid games will be coming to Steam later in 2023.
Dusk Golem, a known gaming industry insider, had also claimed that the first three titles of the Metal Gear Solid series will be getting the remastered treatment by Konami. They claimed that it will be released on PC via Steam and modern consoles.
Konami has not made any statements to confirm or deny these new claims, but we should know it all once the upcoming State of Play will happen later this Thursday.
