Persona 3 Reload Removes Annoying Feature in Social Links

It has been revealed that Atlus has finally removed an annoying feature in Persona 3 Reload that bugged fans of the original.

In the original game, a Broken system is part of the Social Link feature. This would make players permanently fail relationship quests with NPCs, making the gameplay tricky. It was meant to simulate real life situations, but in the sequels, this was permanently removed since feedback from the fans was really bad. Persona 3 Reload, however, might have changed that, among others.

Persona 3 Reload Finally Breaks “Broken” System

In an interview with Famitsu, Director Yamaguchi revealed that the “Broken” social link state is finally gone. It will not be part of the gameplay in this modern remake of the original game.

“In (Persona 3 Reload), the ‘Broken’ system has been removed,” Yamaguchi confirmed. “However, ‘Reverse’ can still happen, though the conditions have been made severely less strict. So simply leaving a Social Link character alone will not cause it to Reverse, as it did in the original version.”

    Reverse Still There

Still, there is the Reverse system that can happen. It would happen if a player ignored one NPC for too long or answered wrong during big dialogue option scenes. If they get caught on dates with other characters by the partner they were romancing, Reverse would occur.

Reverse can still be recovered, but if it has happened too much then it would become Broken. This would make the social link unrecoverable for the rest of the game. Persona 3 Reload does not have that anymore. Good riddance.

Persona 3 Reload launches sometime in 2024 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
