Patapon spiritual successor Ratatan gets its official gameplay trailer before the launch of its Kickstarter campaign.
Ratatan is led by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani with audio by original Patapon musician Kemmei Adachi. The game will be crowdfunded via Kickstarter with the campaign due to launch on July 31, 2023. The studio that will be developing the game is Ratata Arts.
The developers have also shared more details like if it gets funded, it will be available on modern platforms as part of a stretch goal. It is initially targeted for Pc.
“TVT’s very own ‘Theory Engine’ will be utilized for a stable and expansive online multiplayer gameplay experience, allowing for players to march forward with a band of friends, anywhere in the world,” says a statement for the game. Other stretch goals for the campaign are physical console versions and a variety of high-quality items.
Just like Patapon, Ratatan is a combination of real-time strategy and rhythm action where players send out commands to beat of the music and the on-screen characters obey their orders. Perform the chants to tell the Ratatan army to advance, attack, retreat, and more.
The Ratatan also come in different classes with different musical instruments on the battlefield. They use them to produce various effects like buffs and defensive moves. This game will have an on-screen avatar that allows players direct control over it to allow for more modern movement.
Ratatan is currently planned for PC.
