Striking Distance Studios, the developers behind the 2022 survival horror video game Callisto Protocol, has recently confirmed layoffs.
According to a new announcement, Striking Distance Studios has now laid off 32 employees. It is calling a move to “realign the studio’s priorities to better position its current and future projects for success.” This was first spotted by Twitter user @bogorad222 and was later confirmed by IGN.
Later, a statement was sent to the media outlet by a spokesperson for the publisher Krafton that confirmed the studio had layoffs and 32 employees were affected.
“Striking Distance Studios and KRAFTON have implemented strategic changes that realign the studio’s priorities to better position its current and future projects for success,” the publisher stated. “Unfortunately, these changes have impacted 32 employees. Honoring the invaluable contributions of each departing team member with material support in the form of outplacement services and meaningful severance packages is our top priority during this difficult moment.”
The layoffs might have been affected due to the mixed reviews that its only game got, The Callisto Protocol. It launched with several issues and failed to meet sales expectations. This might have been the consequence.
