Despite the news of the Telltale layoffs, the upcoming video game sequel The Wolf Among Us 2 is still in the works.
As was reported recently in a previous article, Telltale Games had to let some of its team members go due to current market conditions. It was not an easy decision to make for the studio, as said in the announcement, but their commitment to storytelling and finding new ways to do so still remains the same.
It was not mentioned before, but the layoffs actually extends into Telltale Games’ newly acquired Flavourworks. This was a studio that the company adopted back in August 2023. It is a London-based interactive video company that uses its TouchVideo technology develop full-motion games like Erica that got released in 2019. Both groups are at least partially funded by Hiro Capital.
The announcement mentioned that all projects that are currently in development are still in production, but they have no further updates for them. This meant The Wolf Among Us 2 is still in the works. The game was first announced in 2019 at The Game Awards and planned to launch in 2023. Telltale CEO Jamie Ottlie then revealed later that the game was getting delayed due to the struggles porting it from Unreal Engine 4 to 5. No new updates as said from the announcement, but at least it tells the fans that production is still continuing.
