When Metal Gear Solid 3 was first announced, we didn’t really know what to make of it. All I remember was feeling great excitement over the new jungle setting and the camo system. But are we up for another round of snake-eating and battlefield surgery knowing that Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta is on its way? Guess that’ll depend mostly on PC system requirements.

The first thing you need to understand about Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is that it focuses more on collectibles than any other game in the Master Collection. To get Platinum for this game, you’ll need to get all available camo patterns/face camo, have all flora and fauna in your inventory, and find all 64 Kerotans. And speaking of which, let’s start this guide by giving you hints to find them.
Kerotans are Kermit-like dolls scattered around the mission area in MGS 3. I was actually surprised when I first stumbled upon them but I had no idea what to do with them. For a Kerotan to be counted as “found”, you’ll need to shoot it with any weapon you have. If you get all 64 Kerotans, you’ll be awarded the It Ain’t Easy Being Green Silver trophy.
Sadly, you’ll have to rely mostly on your eyes for this one. They don’t make a sound until you actually shoot. If I remember correctly, there were a few Kerotans I remember that popped up during driving sequences. The missable ones are always the most infuriating.
The Believe it or Not Silver trophy is one of the harder ones to do. It involves capturing a Tsuchinoko (a mythical snake). The catch is the animal can only be caught using animals trapped in a mouse trap. They can be found in places like the Bolshaya Past Base area.
The best places to catch Tsuchinoko are either at Graniny Gorki South (after defeating The Fear) or in Sokrovenno (after defeating The End). Equip the sonar and kill all the animals in the vicinity. Once all the animals are gone, the sonar will detect something new. Go to this exact spot and place as many traps as possible on top of it. Leave the area and then go back. If you hear the sound of a mouse trap while going back, that means something was caught. If it’s not your intended target, reset the trap, and repeat the process until you catch it. This also counts toward your progress for the King of the Jungle Silver trophy.
The Fit For a King Silver trophy asks you to obtain the Infinity Face Paint. The only way to get it is to finish the game with Tsuchinoko in your inventory. This is a bit harder to do since at one point, Snake will be stripped of his inventory after getting captured by Colonel Volgin.
After meeting with EVA behind the waterfall, simply go back the way you came and look for a log. That’s where you’ll find the snake you lost. Equip your thermal goggles to help you get a clear for your tranquilizer. You must not kill the snake if you want the face paint and trophy.
To get the Only Skin Deep Silver trophy, you’ll need to collect all face paint in the game:
- Zombie Face Paint
- Snow Face Paint
- Desert Face Paint
- Oyama Face Paint
- Water Face Paint
- Kabuki Face Paint
- Infinite Face Paint
To get the Fashionista Silver trophy, you’ll need to collect all camo patterns:
- Raindrop Camo
- Ga-ko Camo
- Splitter Camo
- Choco-Chip Camo
- Animals Camo
- Water Camo
- Hornet Stripe Camo
- Snow Camo
- Fly Camo
- Spider Camo
- Moss Camo
- Fire Camo
- Sneaking Suit
- Maintenance Camo
- Cold War Camo
- Snake Camo
To get the Stealth Camo and unlock the Under the Radar Silver trophy, you’ll need to beat the game without triggering Alert Mode. Back when the original version, the camo could be unlocked by shooting all the Kerotans in one playthrough. However, I don’t know if that’s possible in this latest version.
The Early End Silver trophy is one of the easier Silver trophies to get. You get this chance early in your return to the region. For this attempt, you’ll need to go to the Ponizovje Warehouse Docks after finding out about the soldiers on personal hovercrafts. You’ll get a cutscene of a soldier wheeling The End out to the dock. Before the soldier wheels him back to the warehouse, equip your sniper rifle and shoot him twice. That should satisfy the trophy requirement. Reload a previous save to have The End’s boss battle in the same playthrough.
The ‘A Good Man is Hard to Find‘ Bronze trophy is easily acquired by equipping The End’s Moss Camo. You get this by sneaking and holding up The End during his boss fight three times. Once you have the camo equipped, look for a patch of dark green plants, usually near trees. With the Woodland face camo on, go prone, and you should have the trophy unlocked.
To unlock the Problem Solved, Series Over Bronze trophy, simply shoot Revolver Ocelot in the head as he lay unconscious after his boss fight. The game over screen is hella funny.
Healing radio frequencies is one of the unique features present in MGS 3. To get the Tune-In Tokyo Bronze trophy, you’ll need to call up all the healing frequencies available. The frequencies change depending on your difficulty but you need only tune into the stations that match your current difficulty for progress to count.
These are all known healing radio frequencies for all difficulties.

And finally, we have the Snake Eyes Bronze trophy. There are certain cutscenes in the game that grant you the chance to look in first-person view if you press the [R1] button. You’ll need to hold [R1] for quite a while for progress to count.
These scenes are needed to get the trophy:
- Krasnogorje Mountaintop
- Groznyj Grad Southeast
- Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge
- After defeating The Boss
- Spotting Ocelet in the White House
- The Boss’s gravestone scene
And that’s everything I have so for this Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater Metal Gear Master Collection trophy guide. There’s a lot to process when it comes to getting the Platinum for this game. My best advice is to plan multiple playthroughs just for the story and Kerotans. You can do follow-up runs for the rest of the stuff you didn’t get. While it’s possible to get everything in 2-3 playthroughs, the margin of error is kind of high. A typical main story run will go on for an estimated 16 hours or so. Double that time for your Platinum run and you’re looking to get Platinum within 32 hours. More or less. Good luck, Trophy hunters!
