During the recent State of Play, Bandai Namco revealed their next major game, which will be released this year. Based on the popular anime series, Digimon returns once more to the gaming world with a whole new game and continues the Digimon Story series with an unexpected twist involving time travel.
Digimon Story Time Stranger features a digital world that’s never been seen in previous titles, an improved battle system, fan-favorite characters like Agumon and Omnimon, and other Digimon in brand new roles. Though many iterations of Digimon have existed, the throughline for it all has always been the bond between humans and Digimon. This entry in the Digimon Story shows how that deep bond between characters can transcend worlds and time itself. We can’t reveal too much now but stay tuned to see how these bonds play out in both the story and in the gameplay where past and future, Digimon and humanity, and worlds collide.
Players will enter the Digital World and discover a new realm. Digimon can be seen running their shops, and homes, and living their full Digi-lives. Unique Digimon will also give you quests, which can be completed in fantastical new environments with their interactive elements. After encountering Digimon in battle, you can collect them, and raise them through evolution, devolution, and customization to create your unique teammate. Digimon isn’t limited to evolving in any one way, so enjoy experimenting to see how one Digimon can become many different things! Your growth and the strength of your bond with your Digimon will also affect their growth and battle ability.
Digimon Story Time Stranger will launch this year 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. More updates about the game will be revealed soon.
