Everything Revealed in the Resident Evil Requiem New Showcase

A livestream from Capcom recently showcased more gameplay from Resident Evil Requiem. This time focusing on the more action side of the upcoming horror game. The gameplay overview also showcased other elements of the game such as the story, gameplay, and other features. Check it out.

The gameplay showcase starts with Leon in third person. As a veteran, Leon is the polar opposite of our fresh faced, Grace Ashcroft. He can be seen dispatching zombies with much more efficiency, being able to use his kicks and even weapons he finds around against enemies. Both Leon and Grace are able to sneak around enemies and take them out from behind, though Grace has a bit more difficulty than Leon in doing so.

Leon also has a hatchet which he can use for melee attacks and parrying enemies. This seems to replace his knife from the Resident Evil 4 Remake. However as mentioned, Leon can take the weapons dropped by zombies and then use them himself. The gameplay shows us Leon tactically targeting their limbs to make them drop their weapons, closing in for a melee attack, and then picking up a chainsaw to use against them. A lot of Leon’s gameplay was described as “feel good catharsis.”

This is in stark contrast with Grace, whose gameplay focuses on tight corners and scarce ammunition meant to create a more intense environment for horror. Enemies are more terrifying and the showcases focuses on Grace carefully sneaking around corners.

It’s shown that Grace can take out enemies from behind but we don’t know yet if she’s capable of melee attacks similar to Leon.

We’re also introduced to a new type of infected. Zombies that retain some semblance of their characteristics for when they were still alive. We can see zombies that are still cooking and cleaning. According to the developers, if we observe what their habitual patterns, we can take them out quietly.

New guns are also making their way into Resident Evil Requiem. According to the developers, there aren’t that many heavy weaponry but there is a large caliber revolver named after the game. Though it has limited ammo so you need to make your shots count. This revolver, named Requiem, has powerful bullets which can penetrate through multiple enemies. Allowing you to take down multiple zombies with one bullet.

Crafting is also back. This time you’ll need infected blood from downed zombies in order to craft. You can extract them using specialized injectors. Judging from the gameplay extracting blood has an animation which may leave you vulnerable. The developers mentioned that they incorporated elements to make gameplay more similar to the Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Though revealed before, the gameplay showcase also reveals the ability to switch between first and third person perspectives. Both Leon and Grace can be played from the perspective of your choice and you can switch between them freely at any time during the game.

Multiple difficulties are also present for you to select.

    • Casual mode being the easiest allows you to use aim assist in order to take down zombies more easily.
    • Standard (Classic) offers the most traditional RE experience. You’ll need Ink Ribbons in order to save when playing as Grace. And her auto saves are limited.
    • Standard (Modern) offers a balanced experience between the two other difficulties.

While not really a part of the gameplay, the Capcom showcase also talks about their collaboration with Porsche for Leon’s new SUV. The developers mentioned something about needing a car that perfectly reflected Leon’s style. And the custom Resident Evil Cayenne Turbo GT was the perfect fit.

Another collaboration is with watchmaker Hamilton who designed watches for Leon and Grace. Two watch models were recreated and worn with detail in the game. The Khaki Field Auto Chrono for Leon and the Pan Europ Automatic for Grace. These watches will be in limited edition with only 2,000 pieces being made.

Resident Evil Requiem will also have a deluxe edition available for purchase. These include five costumes for Grace and Leon. Some of Leon’s costumes are his older RE outfits and Grace has outfits as a callback to Alcina Dimitrescu from Resident Evil 8. You’ll also get four gun skins, two filters, two charms, audio pack, and some files.

Resident Evil Requiem will be available on February 27, 2026. Those who pre-order the game will get an Apocalypse costume for Grace.

Despite Nvidia stepping down from making more video cards this year, Resident Evil Requiem is made in collaboration with the tech company. The gameplay showcase revealed extra options for PC users to enhance their gameplay experience such as Path Tracing and DLSS. Resident Evil Requiem is also going to be available for GeForce Now which means you can play it on the cloud with cutting edge performance through powerful RTX servers.

For those interested 1/6 figures of Leon and Grace are available for purchase. They can be displayed individually or together as a single set. The figures are scheduled for release this Fall 2026.

For Nintendo Switch 2 players there is exciting news! The developers teased an original design Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller will be released along side the game. For the first time in Resident Evil, amiibo will also be available. More information to follow.

Once Resident Evil Requiem releases on February 27th, gold versions for Resident Evil 7 & Resident Evil Village will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Capcom will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil with special concerts. The first ticket lottery is now available for Resident Evil Ambassadors, those who are subscribed to the Resident Evil Ambassador Program, with the concert being planned for Japan, North America, and Europe.

Finally the developers end the gameplay showcase with a question:

    What is Elphis?

According to the developers, Leon has a secret that hasn’t been revealed yet related to Elphis. Apparently this plays a key role into the murder of Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft who was a playable character in Resident Evil Outbreak.
