Publisher Dotemu and developer Auroch Digital have officially launched Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War, a retro-inspired first-person shooter set in the Starship Troopers universe, now available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The game places players on the frontlines of an all-out war against the Arachnids, an alien insect threat invading human-controlled systems across the galaxy. Inspired by classic FPS design, Ultimate Bug War combines fast-paced action with large-scale battles as players fight to defend humanity and push back against the ongoing invasion.
A limited-time 20% discount is currently available for players who purchase the game before March 24, offering a reduced price from its standard £20.99 launch cost.
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War features a brand-new single-player campaign that follows Major Samantha Dietz, leading players through multiple high-stakes missions across human colonies and Arachnid-controlled worlds, including Klendathu. The campaign focuses on large-scale engagements where players must liberate territories, complete objectives, and survive overwhelming enemy forces.
The game introduces open-ended battlezones, allowing players to approach missions with flexibility while completing objectives such as defending key locations, rescuing allies, and eliminating high-priority targets. Players will have access to a wide range of anti-Bug weaponry, including unlockable gear and pilotable mechanical units designed to take down massive enemy threats.
New enemy types are also featured, including flying, close-range, and heavily armored Arachnids that require different combat strategies. Alongside the core campaign, the game includes a training mode that lets players experience simulated combat scenarios from the perspective of the Bugs, offering a different approach to learning mechanics and refining skills.
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War also leans into a retro presentation style, combining pixel-inspired visuals with 3D environments and FMV-style broadcasts featuring General Johnny Rico, delivering in-universe briefings and mission updates.
Physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 are also available for pre-order, giving fans the option to secure a copy through retail ahead of wider distribution.
