Tempest Rising is expanding its war with The Veti’s Wrath, a new expansion launching September 29 on PC that introduces the RTS game’s long-awaited third playable faction.
Publisher Knights Peak and developer Slipgate Ironworks announced that The Veti’s Wrath will add an entirely new single-player campaign centered on the Veti, while the faction itself will become available to all Tempest Rising players in multiplayer through a free update launching the same day.
The expansion’s new campaign features 11 missions told from the perspective of the Veti, the mysterious, technologically advanced faction previously encountered during Tempest Rising‘s existing campaigns.
Determined to reclaim the world they once ruled from humanity, the Veti bring their own approach to warfare. The faction is built around subjugating and sacrificing fallen enemies, using them to fuel its armies and armories.
The Veti’s Wrath will be available as a standalone DLC beginning September 29. It will also be included in a new Tempest Rising Gold Edition, giving newcomers access to all three single-player campaigns and their respective factions.
Veti Multiplayer Access Will Be Free for All Players
While the Veti campaign is part of the paid expansion, players won’t need to purchase The Veti’s Wrath to use the new faction in multiplayer.
A free update arriving September 29 will unlock the complete Veti faction for all Tempest Rising owners across multiplayer, skirmish mode, and custom games.
That means the expansion’s single-player campaign remains the main paid component, while the arrival of the third faction will also shake up the game’s competitive and custom multiplayer experience for the entire player base.
Tempest Rising takes place in an alternate version of 1997 where the Cuban Missile Crisis resulted in nuclear war. The RTS combines traditional base building with asymmetrical factions across its story campaigns, ranked multiplayer, and skirmish modes.
