God of War Laufey will launch for PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027, with pre-orders now open and Santa Monica Studio revealing new details about Faye’s combat, Serpent Bow, and different editions of the game.

Santa Monica Studio confirmed the release date alongside new screenshots and gameplay footage offering a closer look at Faye in action.

Players who pre-order God of War Laufey ahead of its February launch will receive the Last Wish Armor Set, a Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance, and an in-game resource pack.

The studio also detailed the game’s Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes several additional in-game items alongside digital extras.

God of War Laufey Digital Deluxe Edition Detailed

The God of War Laufey Digital Deluxe Edition includes:

    • Dark Alchemy Armor Set
    • Dark Alchemy Blade
    • Dark Alchemy Bow Scales
    • Dark Alchemy Catalyst
    • In-game Resource Pack
    • Digital Mini Artbook
    • Official God of War Laufey Digital Soundtrack

Santa Monica Studio notes that the relevant in-game items are unlocked through story progression.

Alongside the edition details, the developer offered a deeper look at Faye’s combat and one of the new weapons she’ll wield throughout the game.

    Faye Wields the Serpent Bow

One of Faye’s weapons in God of War Laufey is the Serpent Bow, an enchanted weapon capable of shifting between dormant and combat-ready forms almost instantly.

Faye can weave its arrow attacks into her other moves, allowing the bow to function in both ranged and close-quarters encounters.

The Serpent Bow features two primary aiming styles designed for different combat situations.

Fully pressing the aim trigger activates Precision Mode, giving Faye more accurate aiming and increased draw distance. Targeting specific areas of an enemy’s body can impair their movement or attacks, creating openings for follow-up melee strikes.

Faye can also charge the bow in this mode and stack up to five arrows before unleashing them as a powerful volley.

Santa Monica Studio specifically highlighted its potential synergy with Phranque, whose abilities can launch enemies into the air.

    Hip-Fire Gives Faye a Faster Close-Range Option

A half press of the aim trigger instead puts Faye into a more mobile Hip-Fire Mode.

Rather than prioritizing precision, this stance allows her to rapidly fire clusters of arrows at enemies at close range.

The quick-fire system can also be incorporated into combos. Faye can use arrows to juggle airborne enemies and extend attacks while transitioning between her different weapons and abilities.

Players won’t be limited to a single type of arrow, either.

The Serpent Bow supports several arrow types built around different combat applications, including rapid-fire attacks, explosive detonations, and multi-target attacks.

Serpent Scales Change the Bow’s Playstyle

Customization will also play a role in how the Serpent Bow performs.

Players can equip different Serpent Scales, changing both the weapon’s appearance and its specialization through unique perks.

One example is the Dark Alchemy Bow Scales included with the Digital Deluxe Edition.

The bow will also have unlockable skills that expand its capabilities as players progress.

Faye’s broader equipment system follows a similar approach. Armor provides different perks and stats alongside visual changes, while several other pieces of equipment can be customized.

Her Blade modifies her sword, Scales customize the Serpent Bow, and Catalysts are powerful artifacts capable of channeling the magic of the Everywhen, with different Catalysts providing different effects.

Santa Monica Studio says more information about the game will be revealed ahead of release.

God of War Laufey launches February 16, 2027, exclusively for PS5.
