Sony Interactive Entertainment recently announced the official PlayStation 5 reveal date, which will be on June 11. The first announcement was for June 4, but the company had to change the date due to the circumstances happening in the US at that time.
Sony’s PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan recently talked with CNET in an exclusive interview to further explain the reason for delaying the PS5 reveal event to another date.
Ryan stated first that it was no time to celebrate amid the international turmoil and racial strife. He also revealed that after the events unfolding the past few weeks have given them introspection about business practices, approach and diversity among his staff.
In an email exchange, Ryan gave this statement:
There are moments in life when something happens around you and you realize that what you’ve been doing is either not big enough, not good enough, or just wrong. This is such a moment. We are going to take a good hard look at how we behave as a company, and how we behave towards our community.
Sony’s PlayStation community has pledge $1 million to causes supporting the black community.
Ryan revealed that the event was already taped and completed, but last week was not the time to celebrate. The decision to delay the PS5 event was straightforward.
The PS5 console system will be released sometime in the holidays 2020.
