A few days ago at the PlayStation Showcase, two Insomniac Games titles were announced. One of them was Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 with a new trailer to finally confirm all of the rumors. It will be a sequel to the original game and will feature two protagonists and one surprising character that no one expected. Here are all the details we know so far about this upcoming sequel.
Who are the Protagonists of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
After the introduction of Peter Parker and Mile Morales’ Spider-Man versions, it was obvious that both will be involved in the sequel Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. No word yet if it is possible, for the first time of the series, to have co-op mode in the sequel, but if there are two protagonists, it is most likely. It could also be a single-player experience with the ability to exchange characters on the fly in battle or outside of it. It has happened before in other games so it could likely be the case here.
Who is the Villain in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
Judging from the voice narrating at the recent reveal trailer, it is possible that the main villain in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is none other than Kraven the Hunter. Kraven has been one of the main villains of Spider-Man throughout different variations of him and in different dimensions as well. He is always portrayed as a renowned big-game hunter that is out to hunt Spider-Man to prove himself as the world’s greatest hunter. He is no ordinary human though as he has some extraordinary skills too that can drive Spider-Man into a corner if he gets careless.
The other “possible” villain that both Spider-Men will be fighting is a fellow Spider-Man himself, in alien symbiote form: Venom. He has also been one of the biggest villains of the series, but he did become good at some point in the story. He is more of an anti-hero than an evil-turned-good individual. It seems he has a conflict with the two heroes, but there could be a point in this sequel’s story that he will become a comrade, and probably… a hidden playable character. Nothing is confirmed yet, but it could happen.
With Venom Appearing, is Black Suit Spider-Man Going to Make an Appearance?
There has been no confirmation that Black Suit Spider-Man is appearing, but with Venom appearing, it is entirely possible. He could even appear before Venom presents himself before the two heroes as Peter Parker gets the alien symbiote first and thus got him that Black Suit. It could also be a different story with a whole new plot, but there is a big chance Black Suit Spider-Man is appearing. If anything, it would appear as a bonus costume for Peter to wear.
Is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to the PS4?
According to the reveal trailer, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released sometime in 2023 and will exclusively be on PS5. Spider-Man 2 will not come out on the PS4. It is only understandable that it will be released two years after and the development team could be pushing for its players to go for the new console generation this time around. No, it will not be available on other platforms like Xbox or PC.
