Remedy has announced that the console versions of Alan Wake 2 will have Performance Mode.
Remedy’s Communications Director Thomas Puha recently explained on Twitter that Alan Wake 2 was supposed to be designed to run at 30 frames per second, but there will be a Performance mode to increase the frame rate. This will be available on the new-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X.
“I’m glad to say that Alan Wake 2 will have a Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X,” Puha said. “The game has been built from the beginning as a 30fps experience focusing on visuals and ambiance, but somehow we have managed to include a solid Performance mode. We’ll talk details later.”
Someone asked if Performance Mode will be locked at 60fps with graphical details reduced, or would this just be an unlocked frame rate that aims for 60fps. He did not give a clear answer but he did say, “Still tweaking that.”
Unfortunately, there has been no word on what the Xbox Series S will have, but it will probably only have regular mode with 30fps.
Alan Wake 2 launches on October 27, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
