Ubisoft has finally unveiled its latest Assassin’s Creed installment, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Die-hard fans have been asking for an Assassin’s Creed game to be set in Feudal Japan, and this time, they have been heard. Codenamed Assassin’s Creed Red during the Ubisoft Forward live stream in 2022, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will find its way to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on November 15, 2024.
Led by the team at Ubisoft Quebec (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey), Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set in 16th-century Japan. The country is heading towards a brutal path to unification, and civil unrest grows as new adversaries appear and corrupt foreign influence plagues the land.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows features two playable protagonists. Naoe, an adept shinobi from the Iga Province, and Yasuke, a powerful samurai and a real-life historical figure. Both playable characters will have their own playstyles, skill progressions, and weapon options. Players are given different ways to tackle an objective. If players choose to play as Naoe, they will have the shadows as their ally and embrace the power of stealth. With Yasuke, players can confidently face larger groups head-on.
It’s also shared that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a vast open world players can freely explore. From spectacular castle towns and bustling ports to peaceful shrines and pastoral landscapes, feudal Japan comes to life with unprecedented dynamism built from the ground up with the latest version of Anvil engine and the power of new-gen consoles.
