Larian Studios has warned players that Baldur’s Gate 3 will not be available for preload despite having a massive download size for installation.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Has No Preload
According to the studio, Baldur’s Gate 3 will not allow players to preload the game ahead of its upcoming launch. Even those who have been playing the game in early access, they will have to re-install the full game, which has a massive size of 122GB.
“The full release of the game weighs in at approximately 122 GB. Please note that your Early Access save games will not be compatible at launch; however, so much has changed that it’s really worth it to start afresh,” Larian posted on the game’s Steam page.
Steam Deck Compatible
Aside from the preload warning, Larian Studios confirmed that the game will now run on Steam Deck at launch. It is aiming for the game to be Steam Deck verified by the game’s launch on Thursday, August 3, 2023. They need two days to make that happen.
Xbox Series X/S Version Might Get Delayed
In another report, Larian Director of Publishing Michael Douse has revealed that the game might not release on Xbox until 2024. He posted this on his Twitter account: “We have quite a few engineers working very hard to do what no other RPG of this scale has achieved: seamless drop-in, drop-out co-op on Series S,” Douse wrote. “We hope to have an update by the end of the year.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 launches on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
