A new report says Activision Blizzard claims its CEO Bobby Kotick employment status is still unknown even after the company got acquisitioned by Microsoft.
Axios’ Stephen Totilo spotted this on a new line that got added to a filing by Activision Blizzard’s 8-K filing. The company claimed that Kotick has not discussed with Microsoft his plans before the announcement of the acquisition and has still not done so afterwards.
“No discussions or negotiations regarding post-closing employment arrangements with Microsoft occurred between Microsoft and Mr Kotick prior to the approval and the execution of the merger agreement and the transactions contemplated thereby, or have occurred subsequent to such approval and execution, through the date hereof,” it claims.
Last January 2022 in a report by media outlet Wall Street Journal, it was revealed by some sources that Kotick was supposed to leave. It seems that has not come to pass anymore.
There is a statement filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission last year according to VGC that confirms Kotick is the only higher up in Activision Blizzard that has protection against change of control situations. If he gets replaced when a takeover happens, he would be rewarded by hundreds of millions of dollars.
