All Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Game Modes
Here are all the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 game modes:
- Team Deathmatch
- Domination
- Hardpoint
- Search and Destroy
- Knockout
- Prisoner Rescue
- DMZ
Keep in mind that this isn’t an exhaustive list of game modes in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 as the game has yet to release. However we can see that new games modes like Knock Out, Ground War, and DMZ have been added to mix up the modern Call of Duty multiplayer experience.
Team Death Match
The classic team deathmatch game mode puts you in a team competing with another one for the most points until the target score has been met or the timer runs out. This is a chaotic mode where two teams are in a tug-of-war to stay in the lead.
Domination
Domination is a game mode that pits you in a race to own all the control points in the map. Teams of 1-6 players each will have to both guard and attack key points else lose them to the opposition.
Hardpoint
Hardpoint is similar to the domination game mode, except instead of competing for control you compete for points. Stay in the radius of the control point to earn points for your team and take out anyone trying to enter. If no one is at the control point, no points are earned for either team.
Search and Destroy
Search and Destroy is an objective based game where each player only has one life and can’t respawn until the end of the round. One team is put on defense and the other on offense with the offensive team tasked to plant a bomb and defend it from being disarmed until it explodes. Players on the defense will have to defend two bomb sites from attacks and disarm the bomb if need be. First team to score 4 rounds wins the game.
Knockout
Knockout is similar to game modes like Capture The Flag, except you’re competing for a bag of money that spawns randomly in the middle of the map. Two teams on opposite sides have to fight to take this bag back to their spawn location to win the round.
Every round switches the teams’ locations and the bag switches randomly between three fixed locations. First team to win five rounds wins the game.
Prisoner Rescue
Prisoner Rescue puts two teams against each other in a game that centers around defending and rescuing hostages. The attacking team has to locate the hostages and extract them to win a round. The defending team has to do everything to ensure that doesn’t happen.
When holding a hostage both your weapon and your movement are limited, making you an easy target as a UAV constantly broadcasts your movement to the enemy team. This mode requires team coordination to truly win the match.
DMZ
DMZ is a new game mode that seeks to implement the extraction-shooter genre made popular by games such as Tarkov and Hunt Showdown. In it, you drop with your team to a location where you can choose to extract any time you wish. You can choose to complete objectives against other players and enemy AI until you feel like you need to extract.
