The Farm 51 shares details of the Chernobylite DualSense Haptics and Adaptive Trigger features.
The developers spoke with media outlet WCCFTech about the details of the next-gen additions to the game after its free major next-gen update landed for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. They discussed about ray tracing, AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution, and more.
One of the details the developers discussed was the DualSense’s features, which are the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. They shared how these two important features of the controller had improved the immersion of the game.
“The new controller from Sony allowed us to introduce additional functions, deepening players’ experience in the game,” explained the developers.
“We could apply additional vibration and resistance on triggers specific to each type of weapon. This difference will affect the way the player feels each weapon type, thus it will crystallize the way they play, causing them to feel each shot almost as if they were actually doing it in reality.”
These improvements are quite similar to other others that have the same features. Each weapon would feel different when used as the haptic feedback gives a different “feel” for each weapon. The adaptive triggers will have different levels of resistance for each weapon used in battle. Chernobylite is no different, but could have different resistances that might be unique to their own.
Speaking of the DualSense controller, since it can be used on PC desktop or laptop, the developers were asked if the game on that platform will have the same features when using the controller. They replied with a hard no as the features are only exclusive to the PS5 consoles. Tough luck, but it would have been cool for PC users to enjoy such features too on their platform.
Chernobylite is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
