Motion Twin has recently announced that Dead Cells will be getting a free PS5 upgrade soon.

Dead Cells is popular for its rogue-lite, metroidvania-inspired, action-platformer. It already has four original DLC expansions which are the Rise of the Giant, The Bad Seed, Fatal Falls, and The Queen and the Sea. Last month, it introduced the Return to Castlevania DLC which adds characters from Castlevania plus monsters from various Castlevania games. It is available on PC and consoles including the new gen variations. While it is playable on PS5, it does not take full advantage of the hardware. This will change in the upcoming update.

Dead Cells Free PS5 Upgrade Announced

According to the official Twitter account of Motion Twin, the PS5 version will be available on June 29, 2023 and will also include a free upgrade for those who already own the PS4 version. The PS5 version will make full use of the PS5 DualSense controller’s unique features. The studio said that the PS5 version will use haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, audio feedback, and lighting.

The #PS5 version of Dead Cells is coming to digital stores on 29 June! Use haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, audio feedback and lighting to take your runs to the next level. Owners of the PS4 version will be able to upgrade for free! #deadcells #PlayStation5

It was also announced that the digital PS5 version will be released ahead of Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania Edition, which is a physical version of the game and its DLC set.

    New Physical Edition

The Physical Edition will be released on August 11, 2023. It will be distributed by Signature Edition and will be available in major retailers. This will also include the four original DLC expansions released for the game and the Return to Castlevania crossover DLC.

Dead Cells is now available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
