It has been confirmed by the game company that three high profile figures have been fired from Blizzard and one of them is the game director of Diablo 4.

According to the report by media outlet Kotaku and now confirmed by Blizzard, three high profile individuals have exited the game company following the big lawsuit that Activision Blizzard is currently facing. These people are Game Director Luis Barriga, Lead Level Designer Jesse McCree, and World of Warcraft Level Designer Jonathan LeCraft. The media outlet notes that either LeCraft has either been placed on leave or has been let go. It was revealed that all three individuals are not present in the game company’s Slack or internal directory.

A new statement was given by a spokesperson for Activision Blizzard to Kotaku that confirms that these high profile individuals have left the company:

We can confirm Luis Barriga, Jesse McCree, and Jonathan LeCraft are no longer with the company.

We have a deep, talented roster of developers already in place and new leaders have been assigned where appropriate. We are confident in our ability to continue progress, deliver amazing experiences to our players, and move forward to ensure a safe, productive work environment for all.

After giving the statement, the gaming company has still not given any reason as to why these people have departed Blizzard.

Jesse McCree, the one that actually got a character from Overwatch named for, was one of the several current and former Blizzard developers who appeared in an image of a BlizzCon 2013 “Cosby Suite”, according to Kotaku. He was a designer at Diablo 4. Jonathan LeCraft was present as well in the suite. He was a designer from World of Warcraft. Luis Barriga, on the other hand, has been at Blizzard since 2006 and was the game director of upcoming video game Diablo 4.

With the exit of the game director, it seems the future of Diablo 4 is a bit grim.
