A Diablo 4 sorcerer that takes advantage of the Ice Blades build sounds like a lot of fun. That’s because ice elemental skills are some of the most potent spells in the game, allowing you to make a broken build out of this already powerful class. Here’s a guide that teaches you the right skills to invest in order to make the Ice Blades build for the Sorcerer class.
Diablo 4 Ice Blades Build
Here are the specific skills from Basic to Ultimate to invest in for this guide:
- Frost Bolt: 3
- Enhanced Frost Bolt: 1
- Glinting Frost Bolt: 1
- Ice Shards: 5
- Enhanced Ice Shards: 1
- Greater Ice Shades: 1
- Frost Nova: 1
- Enhanced Frost Nova: 1
- Simmering Frost Nova: 1
- Ice Armor: 1
- Enhanced Ice Armor: 1
- Shimmering Ice Armor: 1
- Ice Blades: 2
- Enhanced Ice Blades: 1
- Summoned Ice Blades: 1
- Ice Veil: 3
- Deep Freeze: 1
- Prime Deep Freeze: 1
- Supreme Deep Freeze: 1
This build revolves around the Ice Blade skill, which is on the Conjuration branch. The reason why is that it gives you a 50% cooldown reduction on your other sorcerer skills, which means you’ll be casting them a lot more. This will be the main skill to rely on.
It’s not the only thing in your arsenal, as you’ll have to make a full investment in Ice Shards and its modifiers. This will benefit from your Ice Armor and Frost Nova skills, which will both freeze enemies and give you an active barrier. With some investment into these two from the defensive branch, the chances of you leaving enemies frozen go up, which the Enhanced Ice Shards will always ricochet off of.
For your Mastery, you really only need to invest in Ice Veil, which benefits your Ice Armor by increasing its duration. Your Ultimate, Deep Freeze, will also decrease the cooldown of your other spells once you get its modifiers. We don’t think it’s necessary to invest points in it if you’d rather be fully invested in Ice Blades.
With the Frost Bolt and its Glinting Frost Bolt modifier, you’ll have a reliable source of gaining Mana while reducing the cooldown of your powerful skills with Ice Blades.
After getting the chance to play the Diablo 4 Open Beta and Early Access, we had plenty of time to play around with the Sorcerer build and try out multiple elements. The first one we had was a sorcerer mixed build that dealt devastating AoE damage using a combination of its best spells. However, after reading more into the skill tree, we realized that there was potential to utilize an Ice Blades build for this class.
The Sorcerer is one of the most powerful classes in Diablo 4 in our opinion. While the beta would only allow you to level up to 25, the Sorcerer was already thriving even early game and it didn’t take much investments for it to become even stronger. Unfortunately the level cap meant that we only have 24 ability points to invest in so it was limited.
You can refund your points at any time for a few gold so there’s no need to worry about making a mistake. Feel free to adapt this Diablo 4 Sorcerer Ice Blades build to your liking.
That’s the Diablo 4 Ice Blades build for Sorcerer. We hope this guide really helped you.
