Diablo 4 Story: Everything You Need to Know

Someone in the Burning Hells is always scheming to take over Sanctuary, so the Diablo 4 story once again puts the world in danger. Just how will our heroes defend themselves this time, and what happened to put everyone in danger? Let’s talk about the story so far in Diablo 4.

What happens in the Diablo 4 story?

The Diablo 4 story takes place once Lilith escapes from her prison in the void and once again returns to Sanctuary. She fights against the former archangel, Inarius, for control of all creation.

Diablo 4 takes place 30 years after the events of the third game. The war between the High Heavens and the burning Hells has ravaged humanity, leaving millions dead and striving to simply survive. With the heroes of the previous games defeating many of the big names in Hell, the main villain of Diablo 4 has a large opportunity to fill in that power vacuum.

The Diablo 4 story is a more personal one related to all of Sanctuary. It involved Lilith, the mother of Succubi, who has returned from her banishment from the void after a dark ritual involving three human sacrifices was performed. As one of the creators of Sanctuary, she believes that she and her children have the right to rule over all of creation.

Unlike the previous villains in Diablo, Lilith seems to prefer letting corrupted humans do the work for her instead of using brute force. In the Diablo 4 prologue, Lilith manipulates an entire town into slaughtering a priest, summoning demons, and poisoning visitors. In the short amount of time from when she was summoned, she was able to control the forces of Hell.

The plot of Diablo 4 revolves around stopping Lilith and her machinations. Since she’s able to corrupt humans, she can even turn your own people against you by driving them with fanatical loyalty towards her in an alarmingly short amount of time. This means you’ll be fighting against both humans and demons in your journey to stop Lilith.

However, not all is bleak, and there is a glimmer of hope. The former archangel Inarius, who also had a hand in creating Sanctuary, has personally taken up arms against Lilith. His feud with his former lover is one of the key points of the Diablo 4 story. And with such a serious foe, the Horadrim are once again involved.

The player, who can be one of the five classes, pursues Lilith all throughout Sanctuary. There is a lot of emphasis on hatred being the core sin of the game, where it consumes the hearts of the denizens of the world.

Only time will tell just how much damage Lilith can do in the Diablo 4 story once the game comes out on June 6, 2023. Considering her strong connection with humanity, she may be more dangerous than her father, Mephisto.

That’s all for the Diablo 4 story. We hope this helped you get caught up on what happens in the game.
