We have a clearer view into why this happened – the loot crates and microtransactions fiasco. No doubt this affected the sales for the highly anticipated sequel of the 2015 Star Wars Battlefront from DICE. Last week, the 3 week old Call of Duty: WWII by Sledgehammer Games’ topped 1st place in the UK Sales Charts, thus pushing Star Wars Battlefront II to 2nd place.
Furthermore, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon placed 4th and 5th place respectively with EA Sports’ FIFA 18 taking 3rd place. Further down the list we can Rockstar Games’ L.A. Noire on 8th place beating Super Mario Odyssey (9th place) and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 (10th place)
Even if the microtransactions are temporarily disabled, EA should have made the decision a week early before its launch when the whole issue happened, it would have at least made it 1st place.
