The Mystic Spearhand is an advanced vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that is skilled at both melee and magick combat with great mobility. Read ahead as we go through the steps on how to unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to unlock the Mystic Spearhand in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The Mystic Spearhand vocation can be unlocked after following the story questline and speaking to a specific maister, Sigurd.

Captain Brant - How to unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation Dragon's Dogma 2

To start unlocking the Mystic Spearhand vocation, progress through the story until you discover Melve, then progress further until you arrive at Vernworth for the first time as part of the Seat of Sovran quest. There, you will meet Captain Brant who will be giving you the next set of quests.

Brant will then advise that you talk to him at the Stardrop Inn at night to discuss the next steps. Pass the time and meet the captain at night, to which you can do three quests:

    • Monster Culling – “Tell me of monster culling.”
    • Disa’s Plot – “Tell me of the queen regent.”
    • The Caged Magistrate – “Tell me of the magistrate.”

You can pick any of the quests by choosing their corresponding response, but we recommend to do Disa’s Plot as it is the fastest one to complete among the three.

After completing one of the quests, report back to Brant, then rest up until the next morning. Take an oxcart back to Melve. Upon arriving at Melve, the Readvent of Calamity quest will start and you will find a bunch of warriors fighting a drake.

warriors fighting a drake - How to unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation Dragon's Dogma 2

This drake is covered with pustules that can be popped. Pop enough of these pustules and it will cause the drake to stagger and give you an opening for a critical strike. You only have to repel the drake in order to complete this objective, but killing the drake will give you a strong weapon usable for when you unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation.

Since this encounter happens early on in the game, it is unlikely that you and your pawns will be able to kill the drake before it flees. However, there is a way to kill the drake easily, and it is by heading to the ballista tower in the town.

Make your way up the tower in the town with your pawns and you will find a ballista. Get on to the ballista and your pawns will help you operate it as you aim for the drake. Landing three shots on the drake will be enough to kill it.

Go back to the drake and loot its corpse to get the Dead Ringer duospear.

Sigurd - How to unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation Dragon's Dogma 2

After managing to repel the drake, look for the NPC carrying a spear on his back named Sigurd. Talking to him will finally unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation. Additionally, if you managed to kill the drake, Sigurd will also give you the Paladin’s Enigmata which unlocks the Wild Furie skill.

In case you miss out on finding Sigurd after the fight, you can talk to him again by traveling to Harve and completing the Scaly Invaders quest that you get as soon as you arrive. Once the town is being rebuilt, head over to the hut by the southeast cost to find Sigurd.
