The Bitter End is one of the main pursuits in Dredge. This pursuit leads players into exploring the Twisted Strand and its maze-like jungle. Within the jungle is a man who has been trapped by the strange creatures that have inhabited its waters.
In this guide, we will go through the steps on how to complete The Bitter End pursuit in Dredge.
Step 1: Complete the Research Assistant pursuit
After completing the Research Assistant pursuit and hand over the relic back to The Collector, you will then be tasked to go to the Twisted Strand to recover the next relic.
Step 2: Go to the Camp in Twisted Strand
Make your way over to Twisted Strand and stop by the Rickety Pontoon before going to the Camp in the middle of the region. You will have to pass through one of the Mind Suckers that you will have to deal with later on, so be cautious. If your path to the Camp gets blocked, move away from the area for a few moments and then go back.
You will meet up with the Airman who has been living in the area since his whole squad got taken down by the Mind Suckers in the jungle, leaving him as the only survivor. He then asks for your help in getting rid of these Mind Suckers as a revenge for his comrades and asks you get two parts needed to build a mortar. He will also ask to give him the dog tags of his squad in case you find them.
Step 3: Recover the mortar parts
Before looking for the mortar parts, take the time to stock up on explosives first as the paths through the jungle will be blocked with tree trunks. The locations where you can find the parts are in E14 and G13. Go to the crash sites and you will find dredging points where you can fish out the parts. Once you have both parts, go back to the Airman to hand them over.
Step 4: Prepare the baits
You then have to prepare three different kinds of baits by catch specific fishes that can be found within the area.
- Bait #1: x2 Gray Mullet (Coastal) and x1 Gar (Mangrove, Day)
- Bait #2: x2 Longfin Eel (Mangrove, Night)
- Bait #3: x1 Gray Mullet (Coastal) and x1 Catfish (Mangrove, Night)
Once you hand over the fishes to the Airman, you will be given the baits. You wait to get all three before using them or you can use each one as soon as you get them.
Step 5: Set the trap
There are traps set up in three sections in the area where you can put the bait in. These are located in F13, E12, and F14. Once again, bring some explosives with you. Approach the trap and then place the bait on it. This will attract the Mind Sucker towards the trap where it will get caught and blown up by the Airman. The baits do not have to go to any particular trap despite being numbered.
Afterwards, approach the trap to get a chunk of flesh. It’s better to go back to the Airman at this point to hand him over the chunk of flesh as they occupy a large space in your boat. Repeat the process for the other two traps.
From third chunk of flesh, you will get the Shimmering Necklace which is the fourth relic that The Collector needs. You will also unlock bait crafting with the Airman where you can give him fish and he will convert them into Mixed Bait that you can use to lure fish.
You can then go back to The Collector to hand over the relic and unlock the Atrophy ability.
