Funcom has announced that Dune: Awakening will launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026, bringing its open-world survival experience inspired by Frank Herbert’s iconic sci-fi universe to consoles later this year.
Pre-orders are available now across both platforms. The Standard Edition is priced at $49.99, while the Deluxe Edition ($69.99) and Ultimate Edition ($89.99) include a head start and additional rewards for players eager to begin their journey on Arrakis.
According to Funcom, the console release also marks the arrival of the most complete version of Dune: Awakening yet. The September update will introduce the conclusion of Book One’s cinematic storyline, allowing players to experience the narrative from start to finish. For the first time, the entire game will also be fully playable in single-player, complete with scalable difficulty settings and customizable gameplay options.
New console players will also benefit from a year of updates and improvements previously released on PC. These include optional PvP, an overhauled endgame experience, new story content, additional map locations, vehicle backup systems, base reconstruction tools, and numerous quality-of-life enhancements.
Xbox players will have even more ways to access the game at launch. Funcom confirmed that Dune: Awakening will be available through Xbox Game Pass starting September 22 and will support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players to share progress across Xbox consoles and the Microsoft Store version. The game will also support Xbox Cloud Gaming, the ROG Xbox Ally, Steam Deck, and GeForce NOW.
Looking beyond launch, Funcom has already teased a major free update arriving later this year. The update will introduce The Polar Cap, a brand-new survival region located at Arrakis’ frozen pole that promises new content, environmental hazards, and gameplay mechanics.
Originally released on PC, Dune: Awakening blends open-world survival gameplay with RPG progression, crafting, base building, exploration, and a story set within the beloved Dune universe. The game is currently available on PC and launches for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026.
