ESA finally reveals its plans for E3 next year in a recent interview.
Yesterday, it was big news that E3 2023 was canceled. It was supposed to take place between June 13 to June 16, 2023 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, but after the big three gaming companies (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo) pulled out and then other publishers started doing the same, the organizers finally announced the cancelation.
Today, ESA President and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis talked with Games Industry in an interview to clarify various things surrounding the cancelation of E3 2023. He shared details on the reason for the cancelation, his reaction to some companies backing out, and more.
While E3 2023 has been canceled, many are still wondering if ESA will organize another E3 in 2024 despite the current situation in the gaming industry and the big changes that have happened with the gaming companies.
“We’re committed to providing an industry platform for marketing and convening but we want to make sure we find that right balance that meets the needs of the industry,” the president answered. “We’re certainly going to be listening and ensuring whatever we want to offer meets those needs and at that time, we will have more news to share.”
Basically, ESA has still plans for E3 next year but it will depend on the needs of the industry. If they could meet those needs, then E3 2024 could happen.
