Fans Complain on Controversial Final Fantasy XVI Digital Deluxe Edition Contents

Some fans are recently posting complaints online about controversial Final Fantasy XVI Digital Deluxe Edition content.

Final Fantasy XVI is one of the most anticipated titles this month and fans are lining up for pre-orders to get the best editions they can acquire. Collector’s Editions are sold out already so other fans are now trying to get physical Deluxe Editions and some just give up and get the Standard Editions instead. There are some fans who just want to get some bonuses in digital form, so they are now opting for the Digital Deluxe Edition. Unfortunately, they just discovered something quite controversial with this particular special edition.

Final Fantasy XVI Digital Deluxe Edition Contents Sus

According to one Reddit user, they discovered that something was off with the Digital Deluxe Edition. Note that this costs $89.99, which is $20 more than the Standard Edition of the game. It offers some bonus content like in-game items together with the digital soundtrack and artbook. The redditor claimed that almost a third of the cost extra for some images, MP3s and three in-game items does not seem worth it to them.

One of the commenters on the post stated that the soundtrack is actually a mini-soundtrack and not even a full version. They think the cost just does not justify the extra content this Digital Deluxe Edition has.

Has Happened for a Long Time

Unfortunately, this has been ongoing for so long now that is the reason for other gamers (and me) opting for physical special editions. At least you would know the costs are worth it, you can actually touch the items that you have bought, and sometimes the price is not that expensive at all. Digital special editions should have adequate in-game content that is worth the money spent for it.

Another factor that these special editions are now expansive is due to the new prices for games. New triple-A titles now cost $69.99 so a special edition for $89.99 is going to be normal.

Final Fantasy XVI launches on June 22, 2023 for PS5.
