Square Enix has officially unveiled Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, during Summer Game Fest 2026.
The game is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox PC, marking the first simultaneous multi-platform launch for a major title in the remake trilogy.
During the presentation, Director Naoki Hamaguchi and actor Matt Mercer, who voices Vincent Valentine, debuted the game’s reveal trailer and showcased extended gameplay footage.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation follows Cloud Strife and his allies as they race to stop Meteor and prevent the destruction of the planet while confronting a near-godlike Sephiroth. Players will travel aboard the iconic Highwind airship, which now allows seamless exploration of the entire world map.
One of the game’s biggest additions is a fully explorable world that lets players travel by air and parachute directly into locations without loading transitions. The story also introduces greater freedom in how players approach objectives, allowing them to choose which regions to visit and which conflicts to tackle first.
The gameplay reveal showcased several returning and newly playable characters, including Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind. Square Enix also introduced the new FITS system, which allows characters to equip outfits inspired by classic Final Fantasy jobs, unlocking new abilities and combat styles.
Players will be able to explore reimagined locations including Wutai, Mideel, and the Northern Continent, while the hybrid combat system returns with further refinements to both real-time action and Tactical Mode gameplay.
The announcement arrives during the 30th anniversary period of the original Final Fantasy VII, which first launched in 1997 and became one of the most influential RPGs of all time.
