gen ATLAS, the latest project from genDESIGN and renowned creator Fumito Ueda, was officially unveiled during Summer Game Fest 2026.
Published by Epic Games Publishing, gen ATLAS is a single-player sci-fi action-adventure game currently in development for the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The reveal trailer introduces players to a mysterious world where they awaken alone on an abandoned planet. The landscape is filled with vast plains, towering structures, deserted facilities, and remnants of an unknown civilization scattered across the environment.
As players explore the planet, they will encounter a colossal robot whose immense power unlocks previously inaccessible areas and reshapes their understanding of the world around them. According to the game’s description, forgotten constructs and ancient machinery begin to stir as players venture deeper into the planet’s secrets.
genDESIGN is best known for developing critically acclaimed titles such as Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, all directed by Ueda and celebrated for their atmospheric storytelling and minimalist design.
Speaking following the reveal, Ueda thanked fans for their continued patience and support, stating that the team’s goal is to deliver an experience centered around discovery and wonder.
No release date was announced for gen ATLAS, but the game is currently planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
