Phishing scams are on the rise again and this time Genshin Impact players have recently reported such attempts.
Genshin Impact Phishing Scams on the Rise
Many players have recently sent reports to HoYoVerse about others that have logged in to phishing sites from unknown sources. According to an official statement by the developers, these actions have now resulted in unauthorized logins and account theft, which was quite unfortunate.
Avoid Unofficial Websites and Third-Party Plug-Ins
Players are now advised to make sure that they visit are official HoYoVerse and Genshin Impact websites only and to avoid unofficial sources that might take advantage of them. The developers are also planning to enhance account security via technical means. They are also asking players to not use external or third-party plug-ins.
There are various unofficial websites to avoid like the ones that would offer players to top up Primogems. It should be from their official methods only. Avoid trying to check out sites that offer to sell accounts in order to get very rare characters, weapons, artifacts, and more.
Say NO to Providing Sensitive Info
Players are advised NOT to provide any sensitive security information to sketchy sites, possibly as an exchange for buying accounts or Primogems from them. Never share account passwords, SMS, and email verification codes with others and never share an account with others.
Ask for Help Right Away
For players that got affected, they must contact HoYoVerse right away. They might be able to help them if the report was sent earlier.
You must always be careful in engaging with unofficial websites. It is best to avoid them altogether instead and just wait for official word from HoYoVerse.
Genshin Impact is now available on mobile devices, PC, PS4, and PS5.
