Arc System Works has revealed the next Guilty Gear Strive Season 3 character to join the roster plus new details of upcoming content.

Guilty Gear Strive Season 3 New Character is Johnny

The first DLC character that will be included in the Guilty Gear Strive Season 3 is the Jellyfish Pirates Captain Johnny. He will be available on August 24, 2023 together with tons of new content. There will be three more DLC characters that will join with Season 3 and that will increase the roster size to 28. All in all, there were 15 base characters and an additional 13 from DLC.

“With Katana in hand, the daring and debonair pirate Johnny and his crew are dedicated to caring for and defending those less fortunate around the world,” Johnny’s official description reads. “Players will experience Johnny’s mastery of swordsmanship showcased through his swift attacks and notable strength.”

    New Systems in Place

Season 3 also comes with two new systems in the Wild Assault offensive mechanic and the Deflect Shield defensive mechanic. The former would let a “rush attack move with powerful effects” while the latter would create a large distance between the fighter and the opponent after they block. Both will consume 50 percent of Burst gauge.

Arc System Works also announced that the game has already exceeded 2.5 million players worldwide.

Guilty Gear Strive is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
