Hogwarts Legacy State of Play Showcases Gameplay, New Characters, Release Window

WB Games and Avalanche Software have finally revealed a lot of gameplay footage during the Hogwarts Legacy State of Play and it looks really promising.

Hogwarts Legacy State of Play: Character Creation Mode

First off, players are able to create their own wizard of witch in this game complete with character creation mode. It will start with that mode and will be sorted when they arrive at Hogwarts School of Magic into the four houses, which are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin.

When is Hogwarts Legacy Set In and Who are You Fighting Against?

After that, players will start right away with classes and they will be in their fifth year. They will be enrolled haphazardly into Hogwarts and that itself is already a mystery since they start at a rather late year. Also, the time is in the late 1800s where it is way before the time of Harry Potter. The main character also has some ties to ancient magic, which somehow makes them a hindrance of the goblin rebellion led by Ranrok and his ally Dark Wizard Victor Rookwood.

Players will then have to unlock the mysteries behind ancient magic and stop Ranrok’s rebellion and to do that, they have to learn from the best: Professor Eleazar Fig. There are more characters that will help the protagonist in their adventures and the teachers at Hogwarts will mentor them in the many arts of sorcery and magic.

What are the Many Things To Do in Hogwarts Legacy?

The gameplay footage showed a lot of things to do in the game and one of those is to explore Hogwarts to learn of its secrets. Learn new spells and abilities, do combat, solve puzzles, and more. Spells will be essential in combat and also for convenience in exploring. Use spells to protect yourself from harm and dispatch enemies like Incendio, Disillusionment Charm, Lumos, Petrificus Totalus, and more. Learn to mix potions, grow magical plants, tame magical beasts, customize gear, and create tools that can be used in combat as well.

What is The Room of Requirement and What Can You Do Inside It?

Hogwarts Legacy also showcased The Room of Requirement, which will be a small pocket dimension where players can practice their spells, grow magical plants, mend and improve gear, and many more. They can also make customizations here and there like décor and more.

Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player open-world action RPG. There are NPC companions that will accompany the players, but the story will about their own legacy.

More than anything else, we wanted to allow fans, after all these years, to finally tell their story, their way, at the most beloved school of witchcraft and wizardry. Only an open-world action RPG could capture the breadth of our fantasies.
